About the Founder

Three decades of engineering
most companies never build in-house.

Christian Ross has taken electric power steering, braking, propulsion, and sensing systems from the whiteboard to millions of units in production — and now brings that depth directly to your hardest problems.

Christian Ross · Founder

For more than thirty years, Christian Ross has worked at the intersection of mechanical and electrical engineering — designing and delivering electric power steering, braking, propulsion, and sensing systems from concept through validation, sourcing, and full-rate production. It is a career defined not by a single specialty, but by the discipline of making complex electromechanical products actually work at scale.

He began at General Motors in 1991 as a Project Engineer in the Steering Columns & Control Production Electrical Group. There he released the first non-contact steering sensor for GM Stabilitrak and its vehicle security modules, served on the GM Vehicle Security Technical Committee, and was selected as one of only three General Motors Fellows — the company's highest recognition of technical leadership.

At Delphi Steering, he led the industry's first electric power steering validation and manufacturing test procedures, then took ownership of sensor technology, product validation, and supplier quality through a series of full production launches — the point in a program where theory meets the factory floor and problems have to be solved for good.

Over more than a decade at Nexteer Automotive (formerly Delphi), he rose from Electrical Group Manager to Future Engineering Group Manager to Chief Technologist and R&D Director, directing research and development across electronics, embedded software, magnetic sensors, motors, and controls. He developed a business model that cut product overhead by more than 20% while generating over $14B in existing and potential sales.

In 2013 he co-founded Halla Mechatronics, building it into a multi-billion-dollar automotive R&D enterprise. As VP of Electronics, Platform Software & Cybersecurity, Electromagnetics, Advanced Propulsion & North American Steering Systems, he led an organization of more than 100 people, directed the development of 30+ industry-leading chipsets, and established an ISO 17025-accredited EMC laboratory. His teams developed rare-earth-free, North-American-producible motors and electronics now in production at more than 2.5 million units per year.

Across those roles he has been named on more than 17 patents and managed annual budgets exceeding $45M — the scope of responsibility that comes from being trusted to make the calls no one else will.

“My reputation means more to me than a dollar.” Christian Ross

The story behind Prometheus is a personal one. Christian grew up around the American plants that built this industry — Saginaw Steering Gear, where his father worked, chief among them. Over his career he watched many of those plants, and the ones he helped build, absorbed and off-shored, their technology carried overseas. He describes himself as a phoenix rebuilt several times over: each reinvention sharper, more resolved, and more certain of what matters.

Prometheus is his stake in the ground for American engineering integrity. It brings his depth of leadership, technology strategy, and supply-chain expertise directly to Tier-1 automotive, defense, medical, semiconductor, and robotics organizations — the teams building demanding electromechanical products who need experience that has already been where they are going.
